Live from Asbury Park, it's Mike + The Mechanics:

Mike + The Mechanics, the British hitmakers featuring Mike Rutherford of Genesis, will
perform 8 p.m. Friday, April 21 at the House of Independents in Asbury Park as
part of the Asbury Park Music and Film Festival.

The show will be filmed for a future airing on the public television hit, "Front & Center",
said Don Maggi, executive  producer of the series. He added that select future episodes of
"Front & Center" will also be filmed at the House of Independents.

"We've been speaking with Tom Donovan of the Asbury Park Music and Film Festival (and the
publisher of the Asbury Park Press and app.com) about working together and this is a great
opportunity to be part of the fest and to be able to do something cool and unique, Maggi
said. "I'm happy to be able to pull it off."

Mike + The Mechanics's hits include "Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground)", "All I Need
Is a Miracle" and "The Living Years". The band will release their first album in five years,
"Let Me Fly", on April 7.

In Asbury Park, Mike and the Mechanics will perform new material, greatest hits and Genesis
hits, too. Only about 250 tickets will be sold, so as to leave room for the "Front & Center"
cameras.

"To see an artist like Mike Rutherford, who is from Genesis, in a 250 seat room, it's going
to be pretty good", Maggi said. "Then you'll be able to watch it on public TV."

Notes:
- Five small audio errors (smaller than one second) were fixed.
- Not the best audio quality since the internal camcorder microphone was used.
- I had a great place for filming just behind the mixing desk in the first row of the balcony.
- There was security who told some people to stop filming. But they didn't stop me although I wasn't hiding my camcorder.
- The beginning is a bit shaky but it gets better after the first song.
- A bit too much gain was used with the camcorder because the camcorder display showed me the wrong brightness. So the picture is too bright in places.
- I filmed this show in FullHD 1080p50 and will be releasing a bluray in the future. But I can't say exactly when because I have to learn how to handle this HD-files first.
- For this release I converted the camcorder files to mpg with Sony Vegas. The DVD was done using the smart render option of DVD Architect.

Live at the Europapark in Rust, which is in South Germany, "Radio Regenbogen", a well known radio channel, celebrated the "Radio Regenbogen Awards". And beside Floyd Reloaded, The Bosshoss and a few others, Mike And The Mechanics also were nominated, and they have won!

They won the "Lifetime" award, and so they were the last group to be played life at that award.

The gig itself seems to be half playback. Most of the instrumental stuff seems to be from tape, but the singing was life as usual.

It was kind of a Medley, no song (except The Living Years) was played complete, even Mike's solo in "All I Need Is A Miracle" is missing.

Talking about quality: This one is a mix between the webvideo broadcast and the one that got aired on "Baden TV", which i recorded, the oldschool way, with a VHS recorder. I think you can imagine yourself how it looks like, when you haven't cleaned your VHS recorder since 15 years or even more.
And i haven't got a TV card anymore, so i used my "Sandisk V-Mate" to digitalize the VHS. I know it isn't that great. The sound is pretty compressed and the picture is even worse than on the web broadcast.

The problem is: The web broadcast had a few interruptions, but luckily it started to work fine when the band started to play.

I used rtmpdumphelper to catch the stream, and i couldn't figure out how to cut out the Mechanics part from my nearly 2 GB big flash file. It won't play correctly in VLC, i can't even play forward. But i could extract the sound of it. Luckily it worked with fine with my second flash file.

That means:

-the first few minutes introductions and interview have got sound from the web broadcast, but video from the VHS tape. Well, at some points

-Just before the interview with Mike ends, video from the web broadcast comes back, just in time before they start playing.
And you have got "High Quality Webstream" for the rest of the dvd

@coppola I used another DVD authoring program and it seems like i have got a VIDEO_TS.vob file now. problem solved...
