Recorded from row O on the right hand side of the tiered stalls.  I was fortunate (planned) to have no one to my left and my quiet friend to my right, so no major chatter.  Only the odd cough from me as I had (and still have) a stinking cold!

Great show from the Mechanics, still on form even with Mike having to sit for most of the show due to his recent broken hip.  He stood towards the end, but kept pretty stationary.

Nice sounding recording with a couple of new Mechanics songs and a couple of Genesis classics from a legendary Genesis venue.

Never shared this one before for three reasons: 1) it is rather crappy recording, 2) it is incomplete, 3) I hate Mike & The Mechanics.

I basically went to see the show for the opening act - IQ - a new-prog band that was enjoying some moderate success in the late 80's with their "Nomzamo" album. Was not very interested in Mike Rutherford that sounded to me too poppy.

This is an incomplete recording because at one point the IQ guys asked me if I wanted to go to the nearby pub to have a drink and have a party (which we did!) so I stopped the recording and went away.

This will be 35 years old recording in less than a month, so I thought it would have been a good share for the new year. Never seen an alternate complete recording of this. I recorded the soundcheck as well but sound is horrible.

Welcome to Volume 82 of our master series featuring the master recordings of dime member "tapetyrant". The series will predominately feature captures in the Northeast and Southern California areas. We will touch on multiple genres with a strong focus on Jazz Fusion, New Wave and Rock.

Tapetyrant was an active taper in the 1980's and much of the 1990's before, like many of us, hanging up the mics. What he captured during that time is uniformly excellent quality and his master tapes have been safely stored, the first batch are in pristine condition. Some shows may circulate from lower generation copies but most have remained uncirculated until now and have never circulated directly from the masters.

Prior to DAT, the heavy lifting was entirely done by a Sony D5 with mainly NAK 300's and taping was serious business, acquiring the best seats possible and working to keep neighbors in check.

Volume 82 features features Mike Rutherford's mid-1980's side project Mike + The Mechanics.

There don't appear to be too many shows from the 1986 tour, this one is previously uncirculated and excellent quality.
